How strong is AES-256?

It is the standard used for classified material. The weak point is the password, so use a long one.

Can restrictions be removed?

Anyone with the password can remove them. Restrictions without a password are a courtesy, not a lock.

What if I forget the password?

Nobody can recover it, including this site. Keep an unprotected copy somewhere safe.

Where does my file go?

To the WholeFiles server, once, over an encrypted connection, then deleted within 10 minutes. The password is never stored.
