What is in EXIF data?

Often the exact GPS position where the photo was taken, the phone or camera model, the date and time, and the settings used. Social networks strip it, but email, messaging apps and websites often do not.

Does the picture change?

PNG is identical pixel for pixel, except that a 16-bit-per-channel PNG is saved at 8 bits. JPG and WebP are re-encoded at 95 percent, which is not visible.

Does it also remove the rotation note?

Yes, and the pixels are rotated to match first, so the photo still appears the right way up.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. That would defeat the purpose.
